Our Fostoria heating products offer 600-volt system options. Many of Technirep’s electric heating system installation projects have been successful 600V heating systems.
The advantages of the 600V heating system, which are obvious to electricians but less so to the customer
Here are the many advantages of using a 600V heating system.
Optimizing the electrical panel with 600V heating
The use of 600V reduces the number of amperes required, and therefore the size of circuit breakers and electrical cables. This also frees up space in the electrical panel for other equipment, facilitating future expansion (other projects).
Reducing energy losses with high-voltage heating systems
High-voltage systems such as 600V can reduce line losses, improving the energy efficiency of the heating system.
Easy, economical installation of 600V heating systems
Smaller cables are generally cheaper and easier to install, reducing the cost and complexity of electrical installation.
Optimizing energy distribution
High-voltage heating systems can facilitate power distribution in large buildings, reducing the need for additional transformers and thus the total cost of the radiant heating system installation project.
600V heating: a reliable option
A 600-volt heating system can often be more reliable, with less risk of overloading the electrical panel. This reduces breakdowns and downtime.
High-voltage devices optimize the amount of current required to deliver a specified power. When we consider the formula P=V×I, it’s obvious that for a stable power (P), increasing the voltage (V) decreases the current (I). In practice, a 600-volt device requires less current to deliver the same power as a 120- or 240-volt solution. Lower current means thinner conductors, reducing the risk of overloading an electrical panel, which can sometimes offer economic advantages.
Electrical charging safety
By distributing the load over a higher voltage, the risk of overheating cables and other components is reduced, thus contributing to the safety of the electrical system.
