Steps to successful installation of Infratech heating systems
Infratech is a recognized leader in the design of environmentally-friendly, versatile and custom-designed infrared heaters. In this guide, we’ll take you through the essential steps for successful installation of our heating systems, with a particular focus on flush-mounting, which is very popular with design-build professionals.
The basics of a successful installation :
- Mounting options: Infratech offers a variety of options including wall, ceiling, pole and flush mounting. Flush-mounted installation is particularly elegant and popular with homeowners, architects and designers.
- Device selection: Our flush-mount frames are designed to work with the C, W, CD, and WD series. However, the W and WD series are particularly recommended for their superior heat dissipation capacity.
- Sizes and dimensions : Frames are available in three sizes. In order to install them correctly, the following openings must be provided:
- For a 33-inch frame: opening 37 inches by 11 and three-quarter inches.
- For a 39-inch frame: opening 43 inches by 11 and three-quarter inches.
- For a 61-inch frame: 65-and-a-quarter-inch opening by 11-and-three-quarter inches.
Please note that the Infratech SL series and decorative motifs are not compatible with this installation.
Installation steps :
- Preparation: Make sure you have an area with a flat ceiling and solid studs. Studs must be at least 2”x8”. The heater should always face the floor and be away from any light fixtures or ceiling fans. Be sure to observe the clearances specified in the instructions.
- Alcove frame: The alcove must be framed with fire-rated drywall (at least 1 hour) (Type X).
- Electrical connection: Mount a junction box outside the alcove and pull the necessary wire. Use the high-temperature thread quilt supplied by Infratech.
- Fastening the frame: You can either drill through the internal flanges, or use wood screws to fasten the frame to the substructure.
- Finishing: The frame can be covered with a variety of materials, such as stucco, plaster or wood. Make sure that ventilation holes are never covered and that the necessary clearances are maintained.
- Adjustments and mounting: Before installing the unit, adjust the height of the tabs. You’ll need to lower each of them and tighten them with the respective wing nut so that the heater is flush with the finished ceiling. Make your final electrical connection and set up the heater.
With these steps, installation is complete, and you’re ready to enjoy the comfort of your outdoor space all year round!
