Radiant heating for marquees

The best heating solution for marquees

Whether temporary or permanent, marquees often require a source of heating. Radiant heating is an effective solution for marquees, given their height, lack of insulation and draughts.

The project

For all marquees, Technirep first assesses the dimensions to be heated, as well as the heat target and outside temperature. This gives the number of watts/foot2 and then the radiant heaters can be distributed to provide uniform coverage.

For this project, we opted for Fostoria’s MTM series radiant heaters. These are available in several voltages, including 240V, 208V and 600V. This is the same type of radiant heater we use in loading bays, vestibules, churches and municipal garages.

Special features of the capitals

Marquees offer a heating challenge for forced-air heating solutions such as “dragons” or unit heaters. Since warm air tends to rise and be lost in draughts, this type of solution is not very effective. In contrast, a radiant heating solution is perfect for marquees.

How radiant heating works

Radiant heating, also known as infrared heating, heats people, objects and the floor directly, which is more effective for spaces such as marquees than forced-air heating, which is also noisy.

Zone heating

With 96% radiant efficiency, Fostoria’s MTM series radiant heaters can heat a single area of a large volume of space as required.

Heating for spaces with high ceilings

Another advantage ofinfrared is its ability to efficiently heat spaces with high ceilings. In fact, like the sun, infrared does not heat the air, but rather the surface, which means that the floor and objects on the ground can be heated efficiently for greater comfort.

Why radiant heating is the best solution for marquees

Thanks to the operation described above, radiant heating can efficiently heat spaces with high ceilings, draughts and no insulation.
