Overview
In aquatic centers, user safety and comfort are essential. Corridors leading to pools are often wet and slippery, increasing the risk of falls. Traditional heating methods don’t keep the floor dry, as hot air rises.
The challenge
- Risk of falls: Water quickly accumulates on the ground, making the surface dangerously slippery.
- Risk of burns: Electric baseboard heaters become very hot, posing a risk to users.
- Installation constraints: The addition of underfloor heating is not possible due to existing structures.
- Durability and maintenance: The chosen system must be moisture-resistant and low-maintenance.
Results
-
Targeted, instant heat: radiant heating heats people and the floor directly, unlike convection systems, which lose heat to the ambient air.
-
Quick-drying floor: By directing heat to the floor, it stays warm and dry, minimizing the risk of slipping.
-
No moving parts: No fans or air circulation, which avoids unpleasant draughts and improves overall comfort.
-
Durable technology: Adapted to humid environments, Fostoria’s OCH-57 is designed to resist corrosion and offer excellent longevity.
-
Efficient installation: easy to integrate into existing structures, without the need for major work.
-
Elimination of burning surfaces: Unlike electric baseboard heaters or other wall-mounted systems, infrared radiant heaters do not present a burn hazard for users in contact with the system.
-
Increased energy efficiency: Heats surfaces, not air, minimizing heat loss and optimizing energy consumption.
Conclusion
The Complexe Aquatique Saint-Eustache project illustrates how infrared radiant heating canimprove safety, reduce the risk of falls andprovide optimum thermal comfort for users.
Thanks to Fostoria’s OCH-57 series, the corridor leading to the pool is now safer, more comfortable and more energy-efficient.
